Providing Opportunities for Engagement and Education
The Dean of Students Office is located in Founder's Hall 119 (across from the Inferno Cafe). The office serves as a central hub under the Division of Student Development and Success. We are committed to assisting and supporting students along their personal and professional journey, and helping students connect to co-curricular involvement opportunities.
The Dean of Students staff is comprised of:

- Sister Bernardin Deutsch, Special Assistant
The Dean of Students Office supports students, faculty, staff and the community by:
- Communicating College policies and procedures, and ensuring a strong learning community in which civility is a minimum expectation and the student code of conduct is followed. Click here to review the most recent version of the College policies.
- Serving as allies for underrepresented students and catalyzing training and development to strengthen campus inclusion
- Distributing information about college and Milwaukee resources
- Providing problem-solving advice and/or advocacy for students when appropriate
- Assisting with student grievances, behavior or bias concerns, sexual assault, harassment, violence, and crisis situations
- Coordinating New Student Orientation and Commencement Activities
Services
Campus I.D.'s
The Dean of Students Office provides campus identification cards for all students, faculty, and staff. I.D's can be processed in person by visiting FO 119 during business hours or electronically.
Convocation and Commencement
Two major campus events and milestones are coordinated by the Dean of Students Office - Convocation, which takes place at the beginning of each semester, and Commencement, which concludes each semester. Convocation is the official academic welcome for new Alverno students, and Commencement is the graduation ceremony for students who have successfully concluded their academic program.
Problem-Solving Assistance
The Dean of Students Office assists students who are navigating interpersonal conflicts, challenges in and outside the classroom, and can even provide short term assistance in the form of emergency monetary loans (up to $200).
