Ruby, Abroad Ireland Spring 2024

I would say that studying abroad has inspired a newfound confidence in myself. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone was exactly what I needed when I went abroad, and I'm so happy that I did it.

Study Abroad Spotlight

Illiliana

Meet Ililliana

Nursing major and first-generation student Ililliana recently participated in a faculty-led trip to Japan her junior year.

Take the leap, even if it feels intimidating. Studying abroad will push you to grow both personally and professionally. No matter what, immerse yourself as much as possible, learn from the culture, connect with people, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You’ll come home with memories, and perspectives that will shape you far beyond just a regular classroom setting.

One of my favorite memories was visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, which reminded me of the resilience and healing that connect so closely with nursing. I also had the opportunity to tour Adachi Medical Center and Tokyo Women’s Medical University, where I learned about Japan’s approach to patient care and innovation in healthcare. Exploring Miyajima Island and meeting the friendly Japanese sika deer, along with a fun day at Tokyo Disney, made the trip both meaningful and unforgettable.
