Students who major or minor in Bilingual Education, Global Studies, Spanish in the Professions, or Spanish Language and Cultures may be eligible to complete assessments to earn credits for prior learning (CPL) for some Spanish Language courses. This means that students can earn credits without enrolling in the courses. Students pay a CPL fee of either $75 or $150 depending on the type of CPL assessment students must complete.
CPL Process
If faculty members determine that students are eligible to seek CPL, students must complete a CPL assessment to demonstrate that they can meet the course or program outcomes.
Faculty members evaluate students’ CPL assessment submissions. If students successfully demonstrate course outcomes, they receive credits for prior learning. Students can earn no more than 24 credits for prior learning at Alverno.
Getting Started
Students interested in seeking Spanish Language credits via CPL should complete and submit the Student Interest Form by clicking the button below. The CPL Coordinator or a faculty member will contact students after they submit the form.
