Psychology Faculty
Amy Hennings, PhD, LCPC
Amy Hennings is an associate professor of psychology at Alverno College, where she has taught since 2022. She has been teaching in higher education since 2004 and has worked in the field of psychology for almost thirty years. Her research has focused primarily on resiliency within high-risk college students and survivors of trauma.
Her goal when teaching is to have her class be as inclusionary as possible, where students have an active voice in assessments, class discussions, topics of interest, and the overall learning environment. Her approach to education is to be more learning-centered. In her free time, she is outdoors as much as possible, boating, hiking, kayaking and cross-country skiing. She is also an avid reader, so when the weather is not cooperating, you can find her sitting in a chair with a nice book.
