Mental Health Summit Will Explore Psychology and the Law

Alverno College will host a free virtual Mental Health Summit September 14-19. The annual event brings together mental health practitioners, community leaders and students to explore a topic relevant to the field of mental health. This year’s topic is psychology and the law, and will focus on the interaction between the legal system and mental health care, including ways that providers can advocate effectively within systems.

Sessions will cover a wide variety of topics including serving the immigrant community, the war on drugs, elder abuse and adult protective services, special education, and the Black Live Matter movement. Select sessions qualify for continuing education credits.

Sponsors of the event include Children’s Wisconsin, Rogers Memorial Hospital, The Menard Center for the Study of Institutions and Innovation, Aurora Health Care, Cornerstone Counseling Services and Wisconsin Psychoanalytic Foundation.
