Alverno College and Holy Family Sign a Teach-Out Agreement

Alverno College and Holy Family College in Manitowoc have signed a teach-out agreement that will allow students from Holy Family to transfer to Alverno as seamlessly as possible.

Holy Family announced on Monday that they will cease operations at the end of their summer term, which means over 400 students need to transfer in order to continue their college education.

“Alverno will do everything we can to support their students,” said Kate Lundeen, vice president for Enrollment Services. “Holy Family students chose a small, Franciscan college with a commitment to hands-on-learning, and we think many of them will find Alverno to be a wonderful place to land after such an upheaval. We're working hard to ensure the process is as smooth as it can be for them.”

As part of the teach-out agreement, Alverno will admit any Holy Family student who is in good academic standing. Additionally:

  • Students who transfer from Holy Family will not have to pay a deposit
  • All credits will be accepted in an effort to keep students on the same timeline for graduation
  • Students who transfer will not pay more in tuition than they were paying at Holy Family

Students who are interested in transferring to Alverno are encouraged to attend a virtual information session on Friday, May 8. Those interested in attending can register here. Financial aid and scholarships are available for transfer students. The majority of Alverno's transfer students receive merit-based scholarships, which are awarded to students who have at least a cumulative 2.3 GPA and have earned at least 12 college credits.
