Alverno College Will Hold Its 167th Commencement on May 20

Alverno College will hold its 167th commencement on May 20 as 177 bachelor’s and associate degrees, 120 master’s degrees, 11 educational specialist degrees and 14 doctoral degrees will be awarded in the Pitman Theatre. The undergraduate ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. and the graduate ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.

Commencement activities for undergraduates will begin on Thursday, May 18 with a Graduation Mass and blessing of the graduates at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Mary Immaculate. A celebratory reception will be held on Friday, May 19 from 5-6 p.m. in La Verna Commons. The undergraduate commencement introduction will be given by Ziri Hernandez-Bustos, who will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. The undergraduate invocation will be given by Jessika L. Gray, who will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. The student address, “Embracing the Unfamiliar: Our Journey through College, and Beyond!” will be given by Merub Irfan, who will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. The graduate commencement invocation will be given by Trila Pitchford, who will receive a Doctorate of Education in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education. The graduate student address, “If It Is To Be, It Is Up To Me,” will be given by Clarence McFerren II, who will receive a Doctorate of Education in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education. Hernandez-Bustos, Gray, Irfan and Pitchford are from Milwaukee, and McFerren is from Richmond, Va.
