Alverno College Announces Faculty Promotions

It is with great pride that Alverno College announces the recent promotions of our esteemed faculty.

Mary Kitten, DNP, RN, CRRN, has been promoted to professor of Nursing. Kitten earned her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She earned her doctorate in Nursing Practice from Alverno College, and has taught at Alverno since 1995.

Vallimae Sternig, MSN, RN, has been promoted to professor of Nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She has taught at Alverno since 1998.

Justin LaManna, Ph.D., has been promoted to professor of Biology. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, a Master of Science in Biology/Biological Sciences, and a doctorate in Zoology/Animal Biology from the University of Louisville. He has been teaching at Alverno since 2008.

Crystal Aschenbrener, DSW, MSW, APSW, has been promoted to associate professor of Social Work. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and her Doctor of Social Work from Aurora University in Aurora, Ill. She has been teaching at Alverno since 2017.

Lindsey Harness, Ph.D., has been promoted to associate professor of Communication and Technology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication and her Master of Arts in Communication from Missouri State University in Springfield. She earned her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and has been teaching at Alverno since 2015.

Annette Ries, DNP, MSN-ED, CHSE, RN, has been promoted to associate professor of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, her Master of Science in Nursing and Nursing Education from University of Phoenix, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Nursing Leadership from Alverno College. She has been teaching at Alverno since 2009.

Ann Van Eerden, MSN, MS, RN, CNE, NCSN, has been promoted to associate professor of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, a Master of Science in Nursing from Alverno College, and a Master of Science in Health Care Management from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She also holds a graduate certificate in Public Health from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, and has been teaching at Alverno since 2008.
