Cheryl Moore, Ph.D., Named Executive Director of the Alverno College Career Studio
Cheryl Moore, Ph.D., has been named executive director of the Career Studio at Alverno College, where she will lead efforts to prepare students for competitive futures. Moore assumed the role on September 1.
Moore has more than 15 years of higher education experience. She came to Alverno from Cardinal Stritch University, where she served as an assistant professor and chair of the undergraduate business program. While there, she redesigned the undergraduate business program, which involved curriculum mapping, course revisions, and infusing experiential and innovative learning strategies into student learning. She also was influential in helping devise university diversity and inclusion efforts to recruit and retain faculty, staff and students.
“I am delighted to be a part of an educational institution that actualizes innovative learning and the empowerment of women to pursue unlimited opportunities in their personal and professional spaces,” said Moore.
Moore previously owned a human resources consulting firm that provided training, executive talent acquisition and career development strategies, helped organizations implement recruiting processes and diversity strategies, and consulted with business leaders. She also held a consulting role with MRA – The Management Association and served as an internal employment consultant at Northwestern Mutual.
Moore is a member of the Academy of Management Association and World Future Society. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University, and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management with a specialization in Leadership from Capella University.
Alverno’s Career Studio empowers students and alumnae to create meaningful professional lives by teaching career planning strategies, facilitating purposeful experiences and building community connections through networking and on-campus recruiting events with employers. It provides job search assistance to students through resume and cover letter review and interview preparation, offers graduate school planning and coordinates the highly successful internship program. Internships and other professional experiences are built into the curriculum of most of Alverno’s majors, and many students participate in multiple internships during their undergraduate experience.
