Alverno College Year in Review, 2022

As 2022 comes to a close, it is time to reflect on all that we have accomplished. This year saw new colleagues take on leadership roles; exciting grants that will help our students explore the world around them; new partnerships that will allow us to better serve our students; recognitions for the good work that we do here; and of course, the grand opening of our DEMSN program in Mesa, Ariz. Here are some of the highlights from 2022:

Dawn Peterson, who has extensive experience in tax, accounting and strategic management, was named vice president of Finance and Administration. Read more

In March, Alverno expanded its Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing program by opening its new nursing education center in Mesa, Ariz. Read more

Ameera Pearsall, a student majoring in biomedical sciences with a minor in psychology, was selected for a prestigious internship at the National Institutes of Health. Read more

Sister Andrea Lee, IHM, PhD, one of the nation’s longest-serving and accomplished college leaders, announced that she planned to end her service as president of Alverno College, effective June 30, 2022. Read more

Alverno and Kohl’s launched the Kohl’s Scholars program, a $25,000 commitment from Kohl’s that awards a $5,000 scholarship to five Alverno students for the 2022-23 school year. Read more

Alverno College was selected by the Institute of International Education (IIE) to receive an IIE American Passport Project grant that will enable up to 25 Alverno students to obtain a U.S. passport and support their study abroad journeys. Read more

Heidi Anderson-Isaacson, who served as interim dean for two years, was named vice president for Student Development and Success. Read more

In an effort to improve the transfer student experience, Alverno College teamed up with Outlier.org. Read more

The latest report from the Alverno College Research Center for Women and Girls (RCWG) – Wisconsin Women in Public Life ― Elected Officials – shed some light on women in public office, the various pathways they took to achieve success, and the challenges they overcame while running for office and serving as an elected official. For the 13^th consecutive year, Alverno was recognized by U.S. News & World Report for our “strong commitment to teaching.” Read more

Alverno College was recognized by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) as a 2022 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting. Read more

Students at Alverno are able to get professional headshots at no cost to them, thanks to the Career Studio’s addition of a self-serve photo booth. Read more
