BIOGRAPHY
David Brooker is a professor of Political Science at Alverno College, where he has taught since 2005. He also currently serves as the director of the Global Studies program. He teaches courses on the United Nations, regional integration, global studies and comparative politics.
In the spring of 2014, Brooker and his colleague Jodi Eastberg developed and led an interdisciplinary course on coastal cities. The class studied Milwaukee as a coastal city, investigating the ways culture, economic development, political dynamics and the environment are all affected by our location on the water. The semester culminated in a trip to coastal cities along the Baltic Sea that included Gdansk, Poland, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Kalmar and Malmö, Sweden.
Brooker has done on-camera interviews for both WISN TV and Today’s TMJ4, lending his expert opinion on local political races. He was also interviewed extensively by both broadcast and print media in Connecticut during American military operations in the former Yugoslavia.
Brooker earned his PhD in Political Science from Miami University, and he’s on the board of the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies.
